About the U-32 Tennis Court Committee We are a committee consisting of U-32 community members who are working towards developing and, ultimately, installing four new hard surface tennis courts to be located on the U-32 school campus in East Montpelier. About the U-32 Tennis Court Project The interscholastic U-32 tennis program, offered to high school boys and girls during the spring season of each school year, has used public courts in Montpelier and Barre in the past. The Montpelier courts are no longer available for the U-32 program due to the high demand for those courts by the Montpelier High School program. The Barre courts will be available to the U-32 tennis program once again during the spring 2008, however, use of those courts will terminate once the 2008 season concludes. In order to continue the U-32 tennis program in the spring 2009 and beyond, construction of four new tennis courts will need to be completed in the summer or fall 2008. The new courts will also be incorporated into the U-32 physical education program to be used by middle and high school students in the fall. Importantly, the courts would be open to the residents of the U-32 school district and the general public free-of-charge during non-school use periods in the spring, summer and fall. As the courts are to be sited behind the school buildings, the courts would be out of view from Gallison Hill Road. The fenced-in courts would not be lit initially; however, conduit will be laid during the courts' construction so that lighting could possibly be installed at some point in the future. To meet the 2008 construction goal, the tennis court committee is working hard to fundraise for the project. The working budget for construction of four fenced-in courts at the school is approximately $180,000. The tennis court committee is looking to supplement any possible school funds by pursuing grants and corporate donations and seeking monies from Central Vermont area residents/companies. Thank you for your support of our U-32 Tennis Court project. The U-32 tennis courts will be a great community asset, as well as a fantastic school facility.
